Local food for the Chelan community:

  • Grow your food
  • Grow your skills
  • All You Can Eat:

Organic - Fresh - Abundant

Chelan Community Gardens begins our 6th year with the 2012 growing season. We're open to new members and we're looking to grow more local food than ever before. This website is for existing members and those considering participation in Chelan Community Gardens.

Solid Rock Farm:
Located at Howard Flats, six miles from downtown Chelan, Solid Rock Farm is the center of Chelan Community Gardens. For four years we've been growing food as a community of members. There's always lots to eat, and each year we improve our abilities and our production.

NEWS - the land we've been leasing has been put up for sale.  We expect to be able to grow food there again in 2012, but we're actively looking for new locations to grow food and grow community.

Chelan Micro-Gardens:
Our first micro-garden was a great success during the summer of 2011.  Watermelon.  Cantaloupe.  Giant Pumpkins.  Though only Lars had permission from the owner to garden this streetside area, the plot got lots of neighborhood attnetion and produced wheelbarrows full of squach and melons.

Worldwide and National news has more and more articles about communities developing their in-town gardening programs.  The melon patch was a start - we have energy for more.  Discussion are in process.  If you're interested in helping grow this idea into thriving Chelan vegetable patches, please let us know.
